Our client, located in Fairfield County, is looking for an experienced Fund Accountant/Controller to join their team.
The ideal candidate will have a combination of financial oversight, accounting responsibilities, and management of day-to-day operations within the private equity fund.
Responsibilities:
Financial Oversight:
Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Monitor fund performance and financial metrics, providing analysis and insights to support decision-making.
Fund Accounting:
Manage the day-to-day accounting operations for the private equity fund.
Oversee the preparation of capital call and distribution calculations.
Ensure accurate and timely recording of investment transactions, valuations, and reconciliations.
Reporting and Compliance:
Coordinate with external auditors and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Prepare and submit regulatory filings and reports as required.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess financial risks associated with fund activities.
Implement and maintain internal controls to mitigate risks and ensure financial integrity.
Team Management:
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support.
Collaborate with other departments, such as legal and operations, to ensure seamless fund administration.
Technology and Process Improvement:
Evaluate and implement technology solutions to streamline accounting processes.
Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional accounting qualification (CPA, CFA) is often preferred.
Experience:
Several years of experience in fund accounting within the private equity industry.
Experience in financial reporting, analysis, and compliance.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Communication Skills:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to explain complex financial concepts to various stakeholders.
Analytical Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
Leadership and Teamwork:
Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
